It’s another month down as we approach the tail-end of the year here at Lightside Financial Planning.

October has been as busy as ever, with the team helping people just like you to get on the road towards achieving their financial goals.

Outside of work, the team has also been incredibly busy, particularly in supporting charitable causes this month.

Gary completes the London Marathon

The first bit of good news from us this month is from our new financial planner, Gary Fletcher.

Gary only joined Lightside last month, but the depths of his determination and perseverance were on full display on Sunday 3 November when he took on the London Marathon, completing the gruelling 26-mile race in an impressive 4 hours and 7 minutes.

Gary ran for Bowel Cancer UK, the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity, in memory of his dad, Dennis, who sadly passed away from the disease in 2020.

Gary has now exceeded his £2,500 fundraising target. The money will go towards helping those with bowel cancer and into research for finding a cure.

If you’d like to make a donation, you can do so via Gary’s JustGiving page, or via the Bowel Cancer UK website directly.

The Sunshine Group charity ball

The rest of the business also got involved in supporting charity this month as we attended the Sunshine Group’s charity ball event at the Marriott Hotel in Liverpool.

The Sunshine Group is a breast cancer charity run by one of our clients, Ann Coffey, and is sponsored by Hope Capital, a local bridging finance company.

The Sunshine Group is a large team of volunteers that has grown considerably over the past few years, dedicated to supporting women going through breast cancer, including during treatment and beyond.

This vital service provides invaluable support during the emotional, mental, and physical recovery for those diagnosed with breast cancer. They also offer complementary therapies for those going through treatment.

Each month, the Sunshine Group offers a range of activities to the women in their community, from guest speakers, health trainers, days out to the theatre, evening meals, and even lingerie shows!

They also provide signposting to other outside agencies who can offer further support to those who may need it.

The Sunshine Group receives no other grants or funding and so activities like their charity ball are absolutely essential to helping them continue to provide their services.

As part of our offering to the Sunshine Group, the Lightside team offered up a range of fantastic prizes for those going through treatments for breast cancer.

In total, the charity ball raised an incredible £9,400, a fantastic amount of money that will help to fund the incredible work that the Sunshine Group do.

The Lightside team have already reserved their table for the next event, which will be their Christmas ball on Saturday 26 November, 2022.

You can find out more about the Sunshine Group on their dedicated page on the Hope Capital website.
